International Postcard Week
October 3-9, 2021

Hello from Bridget in Queensland, Australia
This is one of my postcards for International Postcard Week Celebrations 2021.  The Bush Stone-curlew or Bush Thick-knee (Burhinus grallarius) is a large ground-dwelling bird with a wingspan of 55-60 cm.  They can live for 20 years, sometimes more.  They are a terrestrial predator adapted to stalking and running.  Bush Stone-curlews are considered common in Queensland but since no monitoring of the species has been carried out in South East Queensland, it is possible that they could suffer the serious declines evident in southern states.  The Bush-Stone-curlew call is an evocative and unforgettable sound.  It is a penetrating, strident, wail, rising with a slight waver, and dropping at the end and often repeated a number of times in quick succession.
Have a wonderful day!!

Hello from Greater Victoria in BC, Canada!

This picture is of a building called Hatley Castle.  It was featured in X-Men as the school that the mutants lived in (they filmed inside and outside). I also did a co-op work term out there.  Unfortunately I did my co-op the year after they filmed the movie so I didn't get to see any of the action.  My coworkers got to watch behind the scenes sometimes though and said that it was really cool.  I worked in a different building nearby which was also where the peacocks liked to roost and screech loudly.  For the film they had to be wrangled and taken a fair distance so that they didn't disturb filming.  I enjoyed my short time working there.

Take care and stay safe!

International Postcard Week 2021
October 3-9, 2021

Hello everyone,

To those of you who remember me from last year I must seem a little obsessed with poppies.

But I love this poto because it captures the sentimental mood when you desperately try to hold on to the light, colorful days of summer - but you know you can't!

Greetings from Kassel / Germany!

Greetings from Munich

We are such stuff, as dreams are made on
And our little life is rounded with sleep.

My name is Marina and I live in Munich, the city of Octoberfest.  My card shows my favorite place in Munich: The Gartnerplatz Theatre.  I took the photo on the right last week, shortly before I welcomed my guests for the first back stage tour after 18 months of Covid break.

Greetings and stay healthy!

Lizard Gate, Friedberg (Hessen), Germany

Believe it or not, these lizard signs were not meant as a joke when they put them up.  They are along the railways here in Freindberg!  I hope the lizards know where to go...

Dear postcard lover,
I am Siti. Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia.  I am happy to join and celebrate International Postcard Week 2021 with you.  I also joined Postcrossing.  I would like to share this picture of beautiful Nusa Dua Beach during a full moon.  Maybe you know, there are a lot of beautiful beaches in Indonesia since it has more than 17,000 islands.  Most of them are still natural and unexplored.

I hope you enjoy International Postcard Week.
Stay safe, keep healthy and have a wonderful day.

International Postcard Week

Natturpark Lelystad, The Netherlands

October 3-9, 2021

In Natuurpark Lelystad different types of animals live in their natural habitats.

You can come face to face with the European Bison, Wild Boars, Pere David's Deer, Mouflons, Przewalski's horse and even moose.  Other animals in the park include storks, otters, and red deer.

My favorite spot in our city is this national park, a nature park.  I am a volunteer at this in the visitor centre.  The new otter home is ready at the end of the month.

Greetings,

Brenda

International Postcard Week
October 3-9, 2021

Hot air balloons float high in the sky there.
Just enjoy the view; farmlands,
purple heather and also cities.
Bright is everything down there, but here
high is the lake present, now and here.
Totally unexpected
Just a ticket
Because I thought about you
Sometimes it's in a word
sometimes in a gesture.
sometimes it's just there...
a bit of warmth,
a little bit of attention
a piece of love,
something you don't expect....
Happy International Postcard Week.

Greetings,
Marian from the Netherlands.

Happy International Postcard Week 2021 !!

This year I decided to highlight our local farmers market in Greenville, Alabama, USA.  My husband and I have been growing and making things to sell here three days a week.  We have met a lot of wonderful people including the lovely lady you see on the front of this postcard. If you have a local farmers market, I would like to encourage you to visit it and see all the wonderful things they have to offer.  You never know, you just might find your new favorite food!

Take care,
Brenda Cole

International Postcard Week
October 3-9, 2021

I have a lifelong connection with water - I grew up on a lake, my father grew up on the Niagara River, and my mother grew op on the Kanawha River.  I'm fortunate to live in Clearwater Florida now, not far from the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay.  Sitting in front of Archer House in Yorktown Virginia in 2020 (look it up - that is where the picture was taken!) at dusk was so cool, it was easy to imagine the colonial citizens moving about at the end of the day, getting ready for the coming winter.  I hope you are happy and healthy - and Happy International Postcard Week 2021!

Thank you!

Pictures are a precious gifts of Memories

International Postcard Week
October 3-8, 2021

In Memory of KameKaze Kitty

This card is dedicated to the amazing KameKaze kitty (it means turtle wind because she loved to hide under basket and attack).  The restraining order finally ran out on Thursday, August 26, 2021, and she was allowed to reclaim her throne as the Queen of Hell.

There are many maintenance workers who are grateful that their lives have been spared her wrath.  Dogs everywhere are celebrating the freedom to once more roam the streets unmolested.  And small kittens will no longer be used as Slinky on stairs.

She will be mourned but will live on in the legends of her Evil Reign for 21 years upon this earth.
