Hello, I took these photos earlier this year when visiting the Victoria Butterfly Gardens (butterflygardens . com). As you can see, there are more than just butterflies to experience. A tropical environment has been created to house tropical flowers, butterflies, fish, and other animals that enjoy a tropical setting. It is not far from a popular place for tourists called Butchard Gardens, so if you are ever visiting Victoria, I recommend also visiting the Victoria Butterfly Gardens.
I had a lot of fun taking pictures, though the butterflies were hard to capture on camera, and the only photos that turned out okay were the shots of the butterflies staying still, which they did not do too often. There were so many butterflies everywhere, it was amazing. We had to be careful where we stepped because the butterflies would land on the ground briefly before fluttering away again.
The larger animals were a lot easier to snap pictures of, and the parrots seemed curious of all of the visitors. One flew from tree to tree following me for a little while. It never got too close, but it was cute peeking at me from different trees.
Take care,
Sara - Canada

Hermannsdenkmal
The Hermann Monument ("Hermannsdenkmal") has stood enthroned in the Teutburg Forest near Detmold since 1875 and is the tallest statue in Germany at 53.46 meters. It commemorates the Cheruscan prince Arminius (Latin: Hermann), who defeated the Romans in the famous Battle of the Teutoberg Forest in 9 AD - a symbol of "Germanic freedom." The statue weighs around 42 tons, stands on a 27-meter-high pedestal, and was created by the sculptor Ernst von Bandel over a period of more than 30 years. Today, the monument is one of the most visited landmarks in North Rhine-Westphalia: Around 500,000 visitors per year make the pilgrimage up, enjoying the panoramic view over the Teutoberg Forest and even being able to climb inside. Fun fact: Kaiser Wilhelm I was personally present at the opening ceremony.
The Hermann Monument will be 150 years only in August 2025.
Best wishes from Ulrike - Germany

Hannover, Germany
Unesco City of Music
Come and listen:
N52- 22'32.952"
E9- 44'24.648"
That is not what it looks like: It is no ordinary manhole cover, but there is a player and 2 speakers underneath and pedestrians can listen to a music program of local musicians and bands, which changes monthly.
And of course, there are many more locations in my hometown (clubs, concert halls, live stages, opera house), where you can hear and share music. :-)
All the best and joy with music all over the world,
Ulla - Germany

Hello... I am 57 years old and have lived in the beautiful village of Oistenwijk, The Netherlands, for 28 years. Our village is known for "the Wedding Lane." The Lindelaantje (Lime Tee Lane) was constructed at the end of the 18th century and used to lead to the Chapel of Our Lady. Teir Lind, or "Vreugderijke" (Joyful), stood on the site of the current town hall. Because couples reach the town hall for the wedding ceremony via this lane in a romantic way, it is also called the Wedding Lane. The Wedding Lane is a 200 meter-long lime tree berceau between the two lanes of De Lind. It is tradition for couples to walk under the two-centrury-old lime tree vault to the town hall.
Happy Postcard Week and greetings from

Lawson Place
Longtime post office
Cades Cove is one of my favorite places to visit. There is no cell service, no stores, and no traffic lights. If we are lucky, we get caught in a "Bear Jam," waiting for bears to cross the road. I wondered about historical mail delivery, and did some research. Mail delivery to Cades Cove began in 1833, and by 1839, there was a weekly route into the Cove. Mail came by horseback or on foot until the early 1900s. Starting in 1927, the land was gradually purchased for Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The post office closed in 1947, and the last resident moved out in 1999. Today, the quiet roads and empty cabins remind me of a time when communication was built on footsteps and front porches, not screens.
